How the program works

Your contact and harvest information will be added to our list of available donors that will only be seen and made available by this local food program partners: Hiawatha First Nations, Kawartha Lakes Food Source members, agencies, and food banks as well as the Haliburton Food Net, agencies, and food banks.

Staff from these programs could contact you in the fall to arrange a time that is convenient for you for volunteer harvesters to come to your home and pick the fruit and or vegetables. The harvest is then split 3 ways: one-third is provided to the landowner, one-third is split by the picking volunteers, and the last third shall be delivered by the volunteers to the food program. This food program will share your produce with seniors, adults, and children in your community that are hungry, live in poverty, and are in need.
